Presentation and Guidelines

The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) of the University of Turin was established in 2022, in line with the goals of the University's 2021-2026 Strategic Plan, and is configured as a first-level Responsibility Center.

It was created as a "context for the development of teaching skills present in the Departments," with a dual purpose (Article 2):

  • "to develop and systematize the numerous teaching innovation actions present at the University of Turin;

  • to effectively respond to national and international objectives and projects that place the University of Turin at the center of networks for the design and development of teaching innovation interventions."

The purpose of the TLC is thus "to promote innovation in the field of teaching, including that supported by digital technologies, through research, training, and the development of cutting-edge teaching methodologies and proposals."

The UniTo TLC also aims to be proactive within national networks, particularly referring to the Teaching and Learning Centers network of Northern Italy (led by the University of Bologna), of which it is a part, and at the international level through collaborations that can be activated with partner universities of the UNITA Alliance.

Guidelines of the Center:

  • Definition of strategies and identification of tools that can help enhance the experiences of teaching innovation, including digital innovation, in line with the progressive evolution of the teaching/learning environment, also from a lifelong learning perspective, and in accordance with the developments in educational research, and their dissemination.

  • Development of a favorable teaching/learning environment, with the active contribution of the student body, considering the changes in the university population in terms of socio-cultural context, modes of relationships, learning, and the demands for inclusion, equality, internationalization, and sustainability.

  • Development and promotion of continuous training initiatives for teachers and researchers, in line with the developments in research on Faculty Development, to promote improvement and teaching innovation.

  • Support for Schools, Departments, and Degree Programs in the process of innovation and alignment of the educational offer with the skills required by the territory/labor market and the improvement demands emerging from the actions of monitoring AQ processes, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Office.
