DIALOGUE AND DISPUTE. TWO LITERARY GENRES BETWEEN HISTORY AND TEACHING OF PHILOSOPHY
Training course for teachers
The Teaching and Learning Center of the University of Turin, in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy and Educational Sciences, active for the academic year. 2026/2027, the Training course "Dialogue and dispute. Two literary genres between history and philosophy teaching".
The path links the history of philosophy, the transmission of texts and teaching, focusing on two central forms of philosophical argumentation: dialogue and dispute. The six modules cross the Platonic, Ciceronian, Augustinian and Islamic traditions, the role of papyrus in the reconstruction of ancient thought and the use of debate in today's school.
Recipients and requirements
The course is aimed at in-service teachers and aspiring teachers of lower and upper secondary schools, with particular reference to competitive classes A011, A012, A018 and A019. Access requires the possession of a first or second level degree. Undergraduates are admitted.
Registrations
Registrations will open from 9.30am on 9 September 2026 at 3:00 pm on 30 October 2026. There is a maximum number of 100 participants. There is no selection: applications for enrollment will be accepted in chronological order of presentation, until all available places are filled.

Training objectives
The course intends:
- provide scientifically correct and updated knowledge on the transmission of ancient and medieval philosophical texts and their correct reading and contextualization;
- propose a multidisciplinary and intercultural approach to philosophical data, with particular attention to the Mediterranean, Byzantine and Arab areas;
- present teaching techniques to profitably use dialogue and philosophical discussion in activities with students;
- encourage the sharing of teaching experiences among participants and with the course teachers.
Duration and methods
The course includes 24 hours of frontal teaching for totals 6 credits. The activities are provided in mixed mode, online and in person. The language of delivery is Italian.
Attendance of at least 1.5 hours is required 66% of assets.

Registration fee
The fee is 180 euros, to which they are added 17.50 euros for stamp duty and SIAE fees, for a total amount of 197.50 euros. Payment must be made in a single payment upon enrollment via PagoPA.
