The 15 and 16 April 2026, at theUniversity of Palermo, will be held TLCxSL – Expanding learning environments: Service Learning practices between tradition and innovation, a congress designed as a space for discussion between scholars, teachers, Teaching & Learning Centers and local partners. The initiative was born with the aim of exploring the transformative potential of service learning in university and educational contexts, encouraging a dialogue between research, experience and social responsibility. The program includes parallel sessions, workshops, round tables and moments dedicated to poster, offering participants multiple opportunities for exchange and in-depth analysis.
Invited speakers
Yrjö Engeström
Professor Emeritus of Education at the University of Helsinki and founder of the Center for Research on Activity, Development and Learning (CRADLE). He is an international figure of reference in learning studies, known for his expansive learning theory and contributions to Activity Theory. His research explores learning as a collective process, situated and oriented towards the transformation of contexts.
Isabel Menezes
Full Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto and Director of the Center for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE). It deals with citizenship education, civic participation and social commitment, with particular attention to the role of the university in the training of active and responsible citizens.
Registrations
Registration for the congress is open until March 31, 2026. Different fees are available (early bird, late, associate and PhD student), which vary based on the type of participant. To benefit from reduced rates, you must be up to date with your UNiSL membership fee for 2026.
